Who is behind Little Travel Society?
We are a perfect mix of 30 years of journalistic and marketing expertise and hard-working moms. Noone understands our traget group better than us – we ARE our own target group.
Sonja Alefi, Strategy & Marketing
Little Travel Society is my baby – my fourth. I have always loved traveling and as I am very curious I speak a hand full of foreign languages. I keep an overview and I am continually developing Little Travel Society further. I also shape the online marketing strategy. I am a graduate cultural economist and marketing specialist. In my former life I worked, among others, as a brand manager at Danone and financed sustainable companies as an investment manager.

I am the travel poet of Little Travel Society. Already as a child I traveled around the globe with my mom – traveling runs in my blood. I don´t only write texts, I also coordinate our freelance writers and I am constantly networking with bloggers and journalists. After all, they are my colleagues. In my former life, I had been the editor-in-chief for the resort „VIP“ at the daily news paper „Hamburger Morgenpost“. For 13 years! Today the hosts of our beautiful hideaways are my VIPs…

Writers: We were lucky to find true word artists that write artful recommendations for our hotels with lots of love and passion. All our writers are experienced journalists or authors – like Wiebke Toebelmann, Marlene Borchardt and Mirjam Hackelsperger. Mirjam also supports us in developing our PR.
Design & Media: Sandra Exler is our Art Director. As you can see by yourself – she is incredibly creative and has an unfallible intuition for beauty. Julia Vorac, Nadine Gehrisch und Heike Vogelsang are our WordPress experts that keep our website always up-to-date.
IT: Michaela Steidl is a long-standing WordPress expert. She keeps our page running smoothly – also on Sundays and at midnight. And Philipp Noack is programming every wish we have in the twinkle of an eye.
Sales: Viola Ehrig and Verena Huber are together with Sonja taking care of your hotels. They have both many years of experience in tourism. Verena lives near Barcelona, studied tourism in Barcelona and is an expert for Spain. Viola has a lot of experience as travel agent for family holiday.
Who are our readers?
Our readers are well-educated families with a big travel budget. Through targeted PR and adressing in social media we are getting into contact with this community. The content of our website and our blog appeals to a certain type of families – young (at heart), looking for something special, with many interests.
What holiday spots fit into our collection?
Hotels and holiday homes with charm where families with kids are welcome. We do not only list children´s hotels but mostly holiday accommodations with a certain extra where kids are ALSO welcome. We call it “child- and parentfriendly”. Sustainable hideaways will be especially welcome. Quality comes before quantity – hotels cannot “buy” into our collection.
What does it cost you?
We are remaining true to the motto “cobbler, stick to your last”. That means, we don´t want to have a booking engine on our website. We prefer to bring you and your guest into contact directly. We believe that a third child or the request for a water boiler don´t really fit into a standard booking system. It is something you know better than we do. We prefer to concentrate on what we know best – presenting your hideaway in the best light and finding suitable guests for you.
We are financing our website by annual listing fees. Without subscription or contract. You decide every year anew if you want to stay. The amount of the fee is based on the number of rooms/houses you offer. Our listing fee starts at 350 Euro for a single holiday home. As all holiday spots on our page have been checked by us thoroughly and have been recommended, our readers know that your hide-away will meet their expectations. You and your place are the stars here! We do not use ready-made press releases. We try to understand the soul of your hideaway and find out about the nice little details. We avoid typical advertising language. We have an informal style with lots of humour – in a way a friend would recommend a hotel to someone.

Our map and search helps families to find exactly what they are looking for. Family facts such as “Is it possible to have an extra bed in the room?” or “Is there baby equipment?” are given for every hotel and holiday home. In our blog our readers also will find fitting hotel recommendations for every topic. Furthermore, we worked with SEO experts to optimize our page. In September 2017 we had 20.000 Unique Visitors per month on our webpage, nearly 8.000 Facebook fans (every month we are gaining 400-700), 1.400 instagram fans and 20.000 views on pinterest per month. A reasonable estimation for the end of 2017 is – due to our current growth – aprox. 30.000 yearly unique visitors on our webpage and 10.000 Facebook fans. We have an interested community on all important social media channels. Many ways to contact your future clients….

We are cooperating with many different magazines and bloggers, publish guest articles, give interviews as travel experts and recommend hotels. We are active in social media. Just have a look at our Facebook page and Instagram account! All our new hotels will be introduced to our community with a post. Furthermore, we reach our community with our popular newsletter that has extraordinarly open rates from 55-60%.
